 Crickets
1 and 2
...configured for "light seeker" operation

data for these robots. |
| Setup: |
-
Each kid gets a flashlight, and sits at the edge of the arena.
-
The robots are programmed to rush toward the brightest thing
in the room.
-
By turning their flashlights on and off, the kids can make
each robot navigate around the arena.
|
| Activities: |
-
Please Pass the Robot: All of the kids use their flashlights
to pass one robot all the way around the circle, trying not to run it into
things.
-
Criss-cross: Cricket One starts on one side, and Cricket
2 starts on the other side, and they race across the arena.
-
Oh nooooo!: While some of the kids drive Cricket 1
and 2 around the arena, other kids control Pluggo, and attempt to "catch"
(run over) one of the Crickets.
-
Advanced Oh nooooo!: Same as above, but Pluggo has
two flashlights attached to him, which tend to lure in the Crickets.

Collected wisdom
and notes for future
improvement: |
-
Kids really love flashlights. Don't pass them out until you're
ready to start.
-
Talk first, then play. The two cannot be done in reverse
order.
-
Teachers really do have the hardest jobs in the world.
